Modi takes a dig at Opposition parties

Madurai: Hitting out at the Mahagatbandhan (grand alliance of Opposition parties), Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said, “They have set aside all differences to come together to remove this watchman.”

Addressing a public rally here organised by the BJP, Modi, said, “Ten per cent reservation for economically weaker sections will not affect existing quota for Dalits, tribals and others.”

Taking an indirect dig at the DMK, the Prime Minister said, “Unfortunately an atmosphere of suspicion is being created by some in Tamilnadu to serve their interest with regard to reservation.”

Remember the DMK has approached the Madras High Court challenging the reservation. It alleged that reservations are not poverty alleviation programmes but are more in the nature of social justice to uplift communities which have not had access to education or employment for centuries.

At the meeting, Modi apparently hinting at Vijaya Mallya, said, “Any person who has cheated or looted the country, shall be brought to justice.”

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, party’s national secretary H Raja, former Rajya sabha MP L Ganesan, State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan and senior leaders participated in the rally. The meeting was attended by BJP cadres from various parts of the State.
