Chennai: “It is a great dream, nice dream. I would not say it is epiphany. But is a nice worthwhile dream. We’ll pursue it. But to enact and actually bring it into force is very difficult. I hope he (Rahul) succeeds,” said Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan.
Addressing mediapersons after launching the Puducherry unit of his party MNM, actor-politician Kamal Haasan said Rahul Gandhi’s promise of minimum income for the poor was worthwhile but would be very difficult to implement. He also welcomed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s entry into active politics by saying “Welcome sister.”
He said it was a great dream and would like to pursue it. But to enact and actually bring it into force would be very difficult. He wished that the Congress president succeeds.
Rahul Gandhi on Monday had promised Congress would ensure minimum income guarantee for every poor person if his party comes to power at the Centre.
Speaking about the Babri masjid and Ram temple issue, Haasan said he had voiced his personal opinion as soon as Babri masjid was demolished and that his was the single voice which rose from the here. He said he stood for amity and unity of India and any sensible Indian would do the same.
He also answered questions on alliances for the upcoming general elections during the event. He replied that the party’s executive committee had given him the authority to decide on it, but no time limit had been set to take the call.
