Fresh from her WGM Norm show, Michelle Catherina (7.5) took sole lead, defeating Chandreyee Hajra in the tenth round of the Velammal – AICF Women International Grandmaster Round Robin Chess tournament 2019 here at Hotel Abu Sarovar Portico. Divya Deshmukh at 7.0 points, stayed behind the leader, despite her defeat at the hands of fellow Indian Aakanksha Hagawane.

TNCA First Division league: Suryapprakash ton gives Vijay CC lead

In the match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Suryapprakash played a patient knock as Vijay reached 308 for three at stumps. The left-handed opener smashed eight boundaries during his 285-ball stay at the crease. A majority of his fours (seven out of the eight) came on the leg side, with him targeting the space in front of the wicket.

Sabarimala row: Police probe death threat to women

Perinthalmanna police have begun a probe after the One Stop Centre, where one of the first women entrants to Sabarimala temple, Kanakadurga, is staying, received an anonymous threat letter. The neighbourhood’s circle inspector T S Binu has said that as of now they were clueless about who wrote the letter.
