Chennai: Police seized ganja packets weighing one kg from an MBBS student who they apprehended near Koyambedu while he was smoking pot in public.
Nejumon (20) is a student of a private medical college in the city. Policeman Manimaran who was on patrol near Koyambedu flyover saw Nejumon smoking ganja with another person near an autorickshaw.
Upon seeing the patrol vehicle, the other person fled in the autorickshaw leaving behind Nejumon. Police seized ganja packets weighing one kg in total from Nejumon’s bag.
Police said that during interrogation, Nejumon revealed he paid Rs 14,000 to purchase ganja from the Vignesh – the person who escaped in the autorickshaw. Nejumon had planned to split it and sell in smaller quantities to his college mates, police said.
