Man kidnapped at Nungambakkam in Chennai


Chennai: An unidentified group kidnapped a man from a bus stop in Nungambakkam yesterday. Police are going through CCTV footage to find the victim Raj (35), a resident of Kadaperi, Tambaram. Raj was in the business of buying and supplying debris of demolished buildings.

Yesterday along with his associates Saravanan, Sugumar, Manoharan, were sitting at a bus stop near Vasan Eye Clinic, Nungambakkam, as a building nearby was being demolished. They were planning to collect the debris in a lorry and later sell it. While they were talking to each other, an SUV pulled up in front of them and asked Raj to come to the vehicle as their ‘Anna’ wanted to have a word with him.

As he went near the car, he was pulled inside and the vehicle took off. Half an hour later his phone was switched off. Raj has a wife and two children.

Saravanan (32), a resident of Pallikaranai lodged a police complaint. He said that Raj already has some injuries on his body when he met him yesterday morning and the car which kidnapped him had a DMK party flag. Choolaimedu police are investigating the case.
