Chennai:Â Sleuths of the Income-Tax Department today carried out raids at 31 places in Tamilnadu.
According to sources, the searches were conducted on suspicion of tax evasion and money laundering.
The raids took place on the premises of real estate businessmen in Katpadi, a milk factory and in some places in Chennai.
Earlier, reports emerged that raids were taking place at the residence and office of State Minister K C Veeramani in Vellore. However, officials denied them.
The I-T department carried out a major crackdown on several private entities including restaurants, food chains and realtor groups recently.
Last month, simultaneous raids took place at four business concerns: Saravana Stores, Revathy Group and realty companies, G Square and Lotus Group.
