Students special

The State Education Department has won the appreciation of many for introducing various reforms and student-friendly schemes. Recently, the Directorate of School Education began uploading class 11 and 12 answer sheets on the website from last year. Replicating it for class 10 would benefit those seeking re-totalling and re-valuation. This facility is available even for private candidates through their examination centres.

And what comes as a relief for young students, the department has denied passing any order that there would be public examinations for those studying in fifth and eighth standards. State School Education Minister Sengottaiyan said, “Issuing an order is the government’s responsibility… the Education Department’s responsibility is to be prepared to implement the orders. Such an order will have to be cleared by the State Cabinet. The government will consider the concerns of parents and students.”

Another recent announcement by the Minister that received appreciation is the use of robots to teach special children with learning disabilities in government schools. Efforts were being taken by the government for making use of the robots for the development of special children, the Minister said. Also, bio-metric attendance register for students was being installed in government schools across the State in a phased manner, the Minister added. Considering parents’ concerns that after the recent strike by teachers, preparing for final exams is difficult for students, the department has said efforts will be taken to make up for loss of classes.
