Unauthorised parking is the main cause for concern for road users of Nerkundram Pathai in Chennai.
There is a garage located nearby and vehicles of all kind are parked 24/7 resulting in traffic bottleneck, says Dr Sethuraman, working in a nearby hospital.
“Previously, we were of the opinion that the congestion / blocks on the road were due to the Metro Rail work on 100 Feet Road. But even after the completion of the the work, there is no change in the scenario due to unauthorised parking which makes navigation through this stretch an ordeal,” says Sandya, a college-goer.
Another main problem being faced by students and residents is the MTC buses stopping away from the bay. “This is due to the parking of vehicles and there is no space for the buses to halt where they should. Hence, we have to run and board the buses,” says Harish, a medical student.
It is high time the civic body looked into the issue and removed the garage, says Sulochana, a long-time resident of Nerkundram Pathai.
