Chennai: BJP Tamilnadu president Tamilisai Soundararajan has said the party has sought the Thoothukudi seat from the AIADMK.
The national party has been allotted five seats in the alliance.
On behalf of the DMK, MP Kanimozhi has already submitted her application to the party headquarters expressing a desire to contest from Thoothukudi.
While she was touring the constituency yesterday along with Tiruchedur MLA Anita S Radhakrishnan, he had told mediapersons she would win from the constituency and become the deputy prime minister of India.
It was rumoured sometime back that the BJP would also stake a claim to contest from the constituency in the AIADMK alliance and this was confirmed today by Tamilisai.
