Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami laid the foundation stone for cages, tech park, fishing training building, educational buildings, fresh water designer fish hatchery of Dr J Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, which will be raised at the cost of Rs 17,02,60,000, through video-conferencing at the Secretariat Monday.
As part of development works in the Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department, he inaugurated a new building at the Government Observation Home for Boys and Girls, Kellys, featuring lounges, restrooms, kitchen, dining room, etc., built at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
For the Health and Family Welfare Department, the Chief Minister inaugurated a newly-built hostel for the mandatory internship students at Kanyakumari Government Medical College, built at a cost of Rs 3.21 crore. He also inaugurated many other government medical buildings raised at a total expenditure of Rs 47.69 crore.
Palaniswami inaugurated buildings worth Rs 1,25,70,00,000 for the Fisheries Department. This includes fishing harbour, fish descending floors, fishnet weaving rooms, fish hatchery, women self-help training rooms with inbuilt kitchens, etc.
Regarding the Animal Husbandry Department, he inaugurated a Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University’s research lab and the veterinary hospital building at Pallapatti, Dindigul district, built at a total investment of Rs 13,27,80,000.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the administrative and educational buildings of Agricultural College and Research Institute, Kudumiyanmalai, which functions under the Tamilnadu Agricultural University, built at a cost of Rs 10.27 crore.
