Chennai: Coimbatore police are conducting inquiries to nab a man who called up the Chennai city police and issued bomb threat to two high profile residences in Poes Garden.

The caller gave false alerts that bombs would explode at the residences of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and actor Rajinikanth.

Immediately, policemen and bomb detection squad combed the two houses and found that the alert was a hoax. Subsequently, they identified the caller. Using his phone number his address was traced and he was identified as Mohammed Ali, a native of Coimbatore.

However, when the Coimbatore police went to the given address they could not find the person and his phone was switched off. Police are continuing with the inquiries to trace him.
