Bengaluru: Days after Sandeep Wathar was made to kneel down by ABVP members for his Facebook post condemning the escalation of tension between India and Pakistan, the assistant professors’s parents are still shaken over the incident.
In the aftermath of pre-emptive airstrikes on the terrorist camp inside Pakistan and the release of IAF wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman, the lecturer working in an engineering college in Vijayapura had hailed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for his gesture. He had also used certain derogatory words in the Facebook post on Saturday.
Sandeep’s post read: “Who sounds more intelligent in all this? You **** all bhakts. You will [be] the reason for [the] destruction of millions of lives if this tension escalates. BJP is **** all party absolutely zero shame.”
His comments were condemned by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members, who stormed the Dr P G Halakatti Engineering College and forced to kneel down and apologise for his alleged ‘anti-India’ post. A few of them were his own students.
Sandeep claimed that although he was not scared by the incident, his parents were still shaken. “It was especially difficult to spend the night after the incident. My mother and my father are shaken, they are worried about my future.” he said. The police have registered a case against the ABVP members based on his complaint.
