Hyderabad: Even as the blame game is ensuing between the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh government over the data theft allegations against the ruling TDP government, the TRS yesterday accused the TDP of trying to defame the Telangana government on social media.
TRS working president K T Rama Rao had on Monday alleged that the TDP was running a paid campaign on charges of data theft of Andhra Pradesh voters through the SevaMitra mobile application. A case was also filed in this regard.
Rao tweeted, “TDP leadership’s sinister plan to defame the Telangana government by using paid twitter handles exposed. You could buy tweets from fake handles @ncbn Garu, but don’t forget that you need real voters to vote for you! Caught in #CashForVotes once and now again at it with #CashForTweet.”
By obstructing Telangana police and filing false petitions in courts, Naidu was indirectly confirming his role in leaking personal information of people of Andhra Pradesh, he said in an other tweet. There is enough evidence that a private organisation got hold of confidential data of 3.5 Crore citizens without their consent, he claimed. He further defended the Telangana police by saying that it was only probing the charges as per a complaint made.
In response to his Rama Rao’s comments, TDP member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy demanded to know what confidential information the data in question contained and he had got access to them. “The voters lists are generally in the public domain…The whole of idea of TRS is that Chandrababu Naidu should not become Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. They are trying to hurt TDP by whatever method they can. This complaint… is also part of that,” he slammed.
The Telangana Police had on Saturday filed a case against a Hyderabad-based IT firm and raids were held on Saturday and Sunday under sections of the IPC and the IT Act in the presence of four employees of the firm, after the police received a complaint from a data analyst who alleged that he found the TDP cadres were using certain software applications, especially ‘Seva Mitra’ app, for advancing the party’s electoral prospects
