Chennai: Boys from the Loyola College, Chennai, retained the prestigious Jeppiaar trophy for the third time in a row in the third inter collegiate basketball tournament conducted by Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, Sriperumpudur at their premises yesterday.
In the finals of the super league Loyola defeated host Jeppiaar Institute of Technology team by the score of 76-63. In the match, the boys from Jeppiaar Institute looked completely off colour as Loyola dominated the game. Aakash of Loyola played vital role for the team win and he was awarded Most Valuable Player of the tournament with a trophy and Rs. 2,500 cash award.
Earlier Sathyabama Institute beat Hindustan university and secured third place. Sriperumpudur ASP Rajesh Kannan and Director, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, N. Marie Wilson, distributed the trophy and cash prizes to all the placed teams.
