Chennai: International Women’s Day is to recognise the contribution of women to the society and take measures to empower them, said Income Tax Chief Commissioner Susie B Varghese.
Madras Medical Mission’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, in connection with International Women’s Day, celebrated Femina 2019
and hosted a panel discussion on the theme – ‘Holistic approach for good health in women’ here Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Varghese said, “Women empowerment is the need of the hour. Although there are many challenges and hurdles, we need to strive hard to overcome all the barriers to progress.”
Madras Medical Mission dietetics in-charge Merina E Alex, senior consultant – anesthetist Dr Sujatha, Institute of reproductive medicine head Dr Kundhavi Shankar, director – administration George Cherian, College of Nursing principal Dr Roseline Rachel, chief nursing officer Ranjitham Anderson and clinical psychology department head Archana Padmakar participated.
Senior cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Jacob James Raj, Dr N Suresh Anand, Archana Padmakar, Meenakshi Bajaj and Devimeena Sundaram were the panel members.
