Speaking to reporters here Tuesday, Singaravadivelu, said, “Annie was afflicted with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, a condition which affected all her joints, at the age of 15. Her hip, knees and ankles were affected making it impossible for her to walk. Her elbows, wrists and fingers were also affected and she was unable to write. Inspite of her disabilities, she continued to study and qualified herself to become an online tutor.”
“But, she lost hope of walking and was helped by her mother for all her needs. She met lot of doctors who said that it was not possible to make her walk again. But, through a friend named Vinoth, she searched on the internet and news papers and found an article describing a condition similar to her’s and came to our hospital. When she met me, I assured her she will walk again. Her friend helped her through crowdfunding to meet the cost of the procedures,” he added.
Singaravadivelu, then, performed a series of successful surgeries achieving what he told. Annie said, “I am very happy that I am able to walk after 18 years. We must have the never say die attitude and keep trying harder till we reach our goals.”
