Over 10 lakh students to sit for SSLC exams

Chennai: Over 10 lakh students from Tamilnadu and Puducherry will write SSLC board exams which will start tomorrow and conclude 29 March.

According to a press release from DGE D Vasundaradevi, the first four language exams will be conducted between 2 pm and 4.45 pm, while the rest of the exams will be conducted as usual between 10 am and 12.45 pm.

This year, 9,59,618 students will write the exams from 12,546 schools. Among them 4,76,318 are girls and 4,83,300 are boys. Unlike the higher secondary classes, 6,982 more boys would write the board exams this year. Apart from regular candidates, there are 38,176 private candidates as well.

The DGE has set up 3,731 exam centres, 133 more from last year. Among the candidates, 152 prisoners have also registered to write exams from centres in Puzhal, Tiruchi, Palayamkottai and Coimbatore. Around 49,000 teachers will be involved in exam related works while flying squads and standing squads consisting of 5,500 teachers and education officials have also been set up.

From Chennai, 50,678 students would appear in 213 centres from 567 schools and 8,356 students from Puducherry also appear for exams, the press note added.

In addition to the students, invigilators have also been banned from using mobile phones. If either students or teachers violate, strict punishment will be taken against them informed DGE’s press note.

Also, for solving all exam-related queries of students and parents, helpline numbers 9385494105, 9385494115, 9385494120 and 9385494125 have been made active. These numbers can be reached out between 8 am and 8 pm on all days from tomorrow till 29 March.
