Chennai: Not all students can read and write with ease. For some, learning basic concepts too is a humongous task. It is for such children, that Blink Foundation at Nungambakkam, comes as a boon.
Running since 2015, the organisation has been helping many across the city, cope with their academic struggles, for free.
Speaking to News Today, one of the founders, Bharath, says, “Our work focuses on assisting children with learning difficulties”.
“We offer one-on-one and group tutoring programme, conducted in well-defined learning spaces within schools, for students dealing with challenges in fundamental reading, writing, spelling and arithmetic.”
Bharath himself had faced similar problems, it is learnt. “I had dyslexia. But 15 years back, there was no awareness about it. No one knew what it was. My parents too found it difficult to understand,” he recalls.
However, his stint at The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) gave him the opportunity to learn better.
“The environment at such schools is different. They focus more on the individual growth of the child,” he says.
“After I grew up, I wanted to help other students like me, and hence started the Blink Foundation,” he adds.
The Foundation also runs a special school inside Loyola College.
