Chennai: For the first time in India, Zoo School at Arignar Anna Zoological Park has launched a special educative YouTube channel “Arignar Anna Zoological Park – Zoo School”.

It is said the initiative was taken to educate and create interest for the public about wildlife and its conservation. The channel was launched during the International Forest Day celebrations held at Guindy National Park in coordination with Care Earth Trust and Guindy National Park recently.

According to sources, the zoo school has planned more such educative videos on animals and forest in the coming days.

Zoo Deputy Director Sudha Ramen said, “Students’ community and younger generations use YouTube to watch science experiments, news channels, sports and more. So to catch them young and stress the need for conversation, the zoo school has rightly tapped this medium.’
The theme of this year’s International Forest Day is ‘Forest and Education.”

In the same event, a book titled ‘Animal Book of Vandalur Zoo’ which will benefit the zoo ambassadors and visitors was released.

More than 250 school students were educated on the importance of forest and conservation in the technical session conducted during the event.
