Chennai: A semblance of discipline is returning to the Congress. Former Union minister Sudarshana Nachiappan, who criticised party veteran P Chidambaram and his son Karti after he was given the party ticket for Sivaganga constituency, seems to have buried the hatchet with them.

Nachiappan met Karti after breathing fire over his being overlooked for the seat. He said Chidambaram has done nothing to improve the constituency and yet his son was given the seat. He said people, who were shocked that Karti was given the seat, hate Chidambaram for neglecting the constituency.

But Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K S Alagiri told the former Union minister that it was not right to criticise Karti being given the ticket. He conceded that Nachiappan qualified for the ticket but the Congress high command had picked Karti. He stressed on internal party discipline.

Following this, Nachiappan called on Karti at the Karaikudi party office and shoot hands with him. Speaking to reporters after that he said the patch-up happened because the Congress wants a change of government at the Centre.
