By women, for women: eWIT forum for IT Professionals in India turns 13


Chennai, Apr 1: Empowering Women in IT (eWIT), a voluntary, not-for-profit forum for women IT Professionals in India, celebrated its 13th anniversary recently.
Founded in 2006, eWIT is serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas and pioneering initiatives to harness potential of women and their growth in the IT industry. #BalanceforBetter was chosen as this year’s theme for the event keeping in line with the theme of International Women’s Day 2019.

 The event’s Chief Guest was Intuit Vice President of the Consumer Group’s Speed and Trust team, Krithika Swaminathan. She shared what the phrase #BalanceforBetter meant to her personally. She encouraged the attendees to be the source for change and said, “Seek ways to help those coming up behind you. Be a mentor. Be a sponsor. Lead.”

Corporate Technology, BNY Mellon Technologies’ global CIO, Bhargavi Sunkara, was the guest of honour and president–eWIT and senior delivery manager, Skillsoft, Nirmala Gopalakrishnan delivered the presidential address and summed up the various events conducted by eWIT through the year.
Key activities of eWIT
1. The eWIT Excellence Award competitions, held annually to encourage young talent enjoys wide participation.
2. Networking with colleges / academic institutions across Tamilnadu to conduct interactive sessions, give lectures, motivational talks
    to students to encourage them to take up careers in IT and also explain industry practices.
3. Vaapas – a return-to-work initiative by eWIT helps women find suitable openings and resume their career after a break.
