A disappointing show other night against Kings XI Punjab must have shattered the confidence of Delhi Capitals. With Sam Curran taking a hat-trick, the Delhi Capitals lost 7 wickets for 8 runs in the last 17 deliveries and fell to a 14-run defeat to Punjab. They must be keen to turn things around tomorrow as they take on mighty Sunrisers Hyderabad.Delhi Capitals, led by Shreyas Iyer, were 144/3 in the 17th over chasing a target of 167. But choked under pressure to lose the game. They play in the den tomorrow. The skipper said, “Losing such games is not going to help us at the end. It was really difficult to even see from outside the batsmen not taking initiative. Itās good that it happened early in the season, so we can learn from this.Ā
To be honest, we didnāt bowl that well. They came really hard at us in the Powerplay. We defended really well after that. Mentally, we need to train ourselves ā we are getting good starts, need to finish better.”
eniors like Rishabh Pant should take responsibility and ensure they finish the game.
For Sunrisers, there is no worry. The finalists of the last edition have had three century partnership in the season so far with David Warner and Bairstow going all guns blazing. Bairstow and Warner bludgeoned the RCB bowlers Sunday, bettering the earlier highest of 184 between KKR’s Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn in the 2017 edition against Gujarat Lions.
They have Vijay Shankar and Kane Williamson to contribute with their bat.Ā Their bowling too looks settled with the likes of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Sandeep Sharma among others going strong.
