Chennai: Karka Kasadara Foundation’s toy drive ‘Enakkum Bommai’ will be conducted 21 April. The initiative was launched by Team KKF to donate gently used toys to needy children in society.

Talking about the project, Karka Kasadara secretary Santhoshi Mangala said, “It is very simple. We collect used toys from our family / friends and hand it over to deserving children. We teach our future generation to be compassionate and motivate our children in lending a hand to the needy.”

Explaining the birth of the project, Santhoshi said, “Our foundation’s primary focus is to uplift the poor and needy by providing education. In addition, we also focus on their psychological health and welfare. In this day and age, where there are any number of gadgets and toys, only a handful of people have access to them. Needless to mention the plight of orphans.”

“But people’s mindset is the same. Every child will have his / her own wish regarding toys and gadgets. But, unaffordability of those toys affects them psychologically, ultimately leading even to depression and sorrow. We, at our foundation, don’t want that to happen. That is the whole point of this initiative,” she added.

She said people can drop their toys – both used and unused – at the foundation’s office in Old Perungalathur. “Residents need to make sure that the toys are not damaged. That’s our one and only condition. We will be collecting toys till 20 April. We have scheduled an event on the very next day where we will go to orphanages in the neighbourhood and donate the collected items. I urge residents to make use of this opportunity to bring a smile on the face of these children,” she urged.

Residents can send to or drop their toys at: Santhoshi Mangala, Karka Kasadara Foundation, #12, Dinakar Street (opposite Annai Arul Hospital), Old Perungalathur, Chennai – 600063. Ph: 98404 89734.
