Chennai: A press release said, the ban on single-use plastics in January 2019 includes plastic cutlery.
“While consumers think they have done their bit by choosing these eco-friendly products, it does not serve the originally intended purpose if disposed as use and throw, along with other unsegregated waste. Unless composted, it is as good as plastic cutlery reaching the landfill. Here is where NOF sees a huge potential to refuse/ reduce single-use cutlery by introducing reusable stainless steel ones,” the release said.
NOF has started the bank with 200 pieces each of tiffin plates, cups, spoons, tumblers that can be rented for parties and functions.
