Karnataka girl tops VIT entrance exam


Vellore: Sai Saketika Chekuri, a student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Bengaluru, secured first rank in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE)-2019 held from 10 to 21April in 124 selected cities across India, as well as Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat and Qatar.

The entrance exam was held for admission to various B Tech programmes offered by VIT at its Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati (AP) & Bhopal campuses, a press release said. Releasing the results here Monday, VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan said 1,62,426 candidates had registered for the VITEEE-2019.

Gurajala Joel Moses from Sri Chaitanya Jr. Kalasala, Andhra Pradesh secured second rank, Tushar Jain from Subodh Public School-CBSE, Jaipur – third rank and Raghavan Gopalan of National Public School, CBSE, Tamilnadu – eighth rank. Viswanathan said admissions would be done only on merit and based on the marks secured by the candidates in the

VITEEE. The results have been released in VIT’s website www.vit.ac.in. Counselling for candidates who secured ranks upto 10,000 would be held 9 May, 10,001 to 30,000 – 10 May, 30,001 to 50,000 – 11 May, 50,001 to 70,000 – 13 May, 70,001 to 90,000 – 14 May and 90,001 to 1,10,000 – 15 May. The counselling would be held simultaneously at Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati (AP).

Under the G V School Development Programme, Central and State board exam toppers would be given 100 per cent fee waiver for all the four years. Candidates with ranks upto 50 would be given 75 per cent tuition fee waiver, those with ranks 51 to 100 would get 50 per cent tuition fee waiver and candidates in ranks 101 to 1,000 would be given 25 per cent tuition fee waiver, the release said. Admission for three-year undergraduate and five-year UG Integrated programmes is also open and students can visit VIT’s website for more information about the programmes and for registering for admission.
