Panchavati Anjaneyar temple gets idol of Lord Venkatachalapathi

Puducherry: Lord Venkatachalapathi idol will be installed at Panchamukha Anjaneyar temple, Panchavati, 10 May, and the maha kumbhabhishekam will be performed 23 June.

Speaking to reporters, head of the Panchamukha Jayamaruthi Seva Trust, Kothandaraman, said, “In the temple, located next to Puducherry, maha kumbhabhishekam was last performed in 2007. When Lord Anjaneyar idol was installed, it was said soon the temple would also get Lord Venkatachalapathi’s idol. Now, the idol is ready, which replicates Tirupati Venkatachalapathi and will be installed between 6 am and 8 am 10 May.”

The idol, weighing 2 tonnes and 7 ½ feet tall, is said to have been sculpted in Chitrakootam, Tirupati, and poojas were also performed in the temple similar to that of Tirupati.

The maha kumbhabhishekam will be performed by Mangalam Rajam Bhattachariyar, Sangoviya Kalyanaraman Bhattachariyar, Kumbakonam Raghunatha Bhattachariyar, Pappakudi Venkatesa Bhattachariyar and Sridhar Bhattachariyar.

“During the kumbhabhishekam, holy water from all rivers from the Cauvery to Ganga will be used, and special garlands will also be brought from 106 Divya Desams,” said Kothandaraman.

Secretary of the trust, Palaniappan, trustee, Narasimhan Selvam, were present during the media interaction.
