Chennai: “Nurses have a great responsibility to improve the health of the population as well as to contribute towards the achievement of the millennium development goals thus acting as a force for change,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anna Nagar, M Sudhakar.
He was speaking during the International Nurses’ Day celebration held at Madras Medical Mission here Wednesday. Sudhakar spoke on the significance of the theme of International Nurses Day 2019 and emphasised on the prominent role nurses play in bringing about the change in different strata of the society.
Ojas Ortho director Dr P R Ashwin Vijay, said, “Nursing has evolved into a profession with wealth of skills and professional knowledge. They are the largest group of health professionals and often, the only available health workers to the public. Sufficient, adequately trained and motivated nurses are essential for providing healthcare facilities.” The Madras Medical Mission chief nursing officer Ranjitham Anderson, honorary secretary Dr K Jacob, director – administration George Cherian were among those present during the event.
