Chennai: Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan’s residence-office at Alwarpet here was provided with police security as a precautionary measure following his controversial statement on ‘Hindu terrorist’.
According to police, a ten-member team headed by an Inspector has been posted outside his Alwarpet house from this morning.
An official said, “the team has been deployed as a precautionary measure, as some Hindu groups are likely to protest.”
Meanwhile, for the second day, the Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president today cancelled his campaign for the by-election. He was scheduled to meet voters in Ottapidaram today.
Kamal, while speaking at an election rally for his party candidate in Aravakurichi Assembly constituency where by-poll will be held 19 May, described Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, as the first Hindu terrorist in independent India. He had said that, “The first terrorist post India’s independence is a Hindu.” Politicians and celebrities came down heavily on this comment of Kamal and sought action against him.
Meanwhile, MNM today sought the dismissal of Tamilnadu Minister for Milk and Dairy Development KT Rajenthra Bhalaji for allegedly saying that Kamal’s tongue should be chopped off for his comments.
