The Madras High Court today questioned what is preventing the government from producing Rajiv Gandhi murder convict Nalini before the court.

It has asked the government to respond next week. Nalini has filed a petition at the court seeking parole to attend her daughter’s marriage. She has requested to argue for herself when the case is taken up for hearing.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a suicide bomber in Sriperumbudur in Tamilnadu 21 May 1991. Seven people – Perarivalan, Murugan aka Sriharan, Nalini Sriharan, P Ravichandran, Shantan, Jayakumar and Robert Payas – are serving life imprisonment in connection to the case.
