Hyderabad: The police have taken three people into custody yesterday for allegedly posting fake messages o of missing persons on social media. This resulted in creating rumours of kidnap and panic among the general public.
According to a media report, the cyber crime police in the city on Wednesday registered a case after some of the the posts went viral. In a press release, the police said that these posts sparked off rumours about kidnappers mafia in the State.
During investigation, the officials took three men into custody. Police asked the public not to believe such rumours and delete such messages immediately instead of forwarding them. The State police have warned that forwarding of such fake posts and rumours is liable for punishment under law.
