Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao began the party’s membership campaign at a meeting yesterday. The drive is said to continue till 20 July and aims at enrolling about 60 lakh members from across the 119 assembly segments.

According to a media report, TRS MLAs would lead the campaign in their respective assembly constituencies.

Speaking at the event, Rao said the party has emerged strong with people reposing their confidence in the party. Once the drive is complete, appointment of party committees at the village and mandal level would be done. The party had won the Assembly elections held in December last year by bagging 88 of the total 119 seats, and secured nine of the total 17 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Last month, the TRS also bagged all Zilla Parishad chairman posts in the rural local body elections.
