Chennai: A man has been arrested by city police for murdering a senior citizen at Porur. According to the police, Baskaran (78) was recently found dead at his house in Madanandapuram, Porur.
He lived alone and has two sons – one lives abroad and the other at Madipakkam. Three sovereigns of gold was missing from his house and a two-wheeler was also stolen.
The Mangadu police registered a case and began an investigation. They checked the CCTV cameras in the neighbourhood and began tracking the phone call signals.
The police arrested Mansoor Ahmed, a hotel employee. He worked at an eatery which Baskaran often visited.
Mansoor told police that Baskaran knew of his financial troubles and had promised to help him. But Mansoor visited him twice and Baskaran did not give him any money. The third time he visited, Baskaran asked him for sexual favours which angered him, leading to the murder. Mansoor is now in police custody.
