TRS membership drive: 40 lakh people enrolled so far


Hyderabad: About 40 lakh members have been enrolled in the ruling TRS in Telangana as part of its membership campaign that was launched last month.

A media report said, TRS, the ruling party in Telangana, has completed digitalization of details of 20 lakh members of the total 40 lakh. Working president K T Rama Rao announced this to party members during a meeting with leaders on the campaign. The membership drive which was launched on 27 June is likely to conclude by the end of this month. Initially 60 lakh members were planned to be enrol, with 50,000 enlisted in each assembly constituency.

The members in charge of the initiative were asked to take up formation of party committees in places where membership enrolment came to a close as per targets. He had expressed satisfaction over the response to the drive in urban areas. This come at a time when municipal elections would be held soon.

Speaking to reporters, TRS MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said, “Membership fee of close to Rs 15 crore reached our office…KTR directed that arrangements be made to pay insurance from first of August to those who joined now.”

TRS had returned to power in the Assembly polls held in December last with a massive majority, winning 88 of the total of 119 seats.
