Athi Varadar in ninra thirukolam: Change in darshan timings 3 Aug (video)

Chennai: On the second day of ninra thirukolam and 33rd day of darshan after being taken out of the Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple tank in Kanchipuram last month, Lord Athi Varadar continued to draw devotees by the droves today.

Beautifully decked in orange silk with a mind-boggling, rich green zari border, the deity is also covered with rows and rows of flower garlands. What is remarkable is the strings of kodi sampangi (green in colour) that adorned the Lord and his abhaya hastham (hand that blesses).

Devotees are asked to note that darshan timing will be truncated tomorrow, on the occasion of Adi Pooram. Adi Pooram marks saint Andal’s marriage to Lord Perumal. This will be celebrated in the Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple in a grand manner from 5 pm to 8 pm.

So, darshan of Lord Athi Varadar will be suspended during the three hours. It will resume after 8 pm, say sources in the temple.
