Kochi: Even as Kerala is reeling under heavy rain, the Kochi International airport closed operations till Sunday as the runway area in its premises remains flooded.
A media report said as the runway area of the airport is water logged, the Cochin International Airport Ltd yesterday announced the suspension of flight operations till 9 am today. The flights have been cancelled and diverted as a precautionary measure.
Water level in Periyar river and a canal adjacent to the airport have risen due to heavy rain, which claimed eight lives yesterday.
