Chennai: In a shocking incident, a Sepoy shot at a Havildar inside the premises of Army camp at Pallavaram Cantonment last night.
According to police, at 11 pm, Havildar Praveen Kumar Joshi of Uttarakhad was shot at by Sepoy Jagadeep.
After shooting him, Jagadeep turned the gun to himself. The bodies were sent to Army Hospital, Nandambakkam, for post mortem. Sources in the Defence claimed that an inquiry is underway in the case and an official statement would later be released.
It is said that Praveen often scolded his sub ordinate, Jagadeep, for turning up late to work which created animosity between them.
Meanwhile, following the incident, Major Ullah Kumar lodged a complaint with Pallavaram police station. A team of police, led by Inspector Ilangovan visited the camp this morning.
