Heavy rains to continue in Tamilnadu


Chennai: While the Northeast monsoon has set in, the Met Department has predicted heavy showers are likely to occur over isolated places in Tamilnadu such as Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Nilgiris among many other districts until 21 October.

The schools in Nilgiris were declared holiday today due to intense showers. Several parts of the State, including Chennai and its suburban areas received rainfall last night.

The department has advised fishermen from Tamilnadu and Pondicherry not to venture into seas today and tomorrow.

In Chennai, for the next 48 hours the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 28 and 25 degree Celsius, respectively.

Last night, Anna Salai, Anna Nagar, Kodambakkam, Vadapalani, Marina and Guindy among other places received rainfall. As always, the vehicle users bore the brunt of bad roads.

Aynavaram witnessed highest amount of 13 cm in city, followed by Perambur (12 cm) and north Chennai (10 cm).
