Chennai: When you thrive for something, no matter how many times you fail, no matter how many times you fall, or no matter how many times you are defeated,€“ you will get up and you will rise and shine. “It is all about the hard work and  perseverance’,” says Mohammed Yahiya, a resident of Moulivakkam.

The 25-year-old entrepreneur had recently won the title ‘Face of Chennai’ in a fashion contest conducted by IRIS Glam here in Chennai. News Today had a candid interview with this young enthusiast. In his chat, he shares about his love for the ramp, about his grooming sessions, future plans and more.

“‘I got to know about this contest through my Instagram feed and decided to participate in the contest. I was one among the 1,700 contestants who participated. Of them, 40 finalists got shortlisted. The finale took place in one of the luxurious hotels in Chennai and I was declared the winner and was also provided with the title Face of Chennai,”’ Yahiya briefs about the incident.

‘”Throughout the journey of this competition, I felt excited as I learnt new things. After semi-finals, we were taught to ramp walk according to this genre, fashion choreography and more. We were also involved in the professional grooming session that taught us several techniques in makeovers,’” he tells with much excitement.

Asked about how this interest started budding in him, Yahiya explains, “‘I loved fashion walking from my young age and several models and their way of confident appearance inspired me a lot. I always had a nose for knowing about the current trends and followed it too. Apart from that, I also create my own fashion statements.”

“‘Previously, I have given a lot of auditions and ramps. No matter if I win or lose, every competition is an experience. With that lesson, I participate in the next with more confidence. This victory is the result of my hard work,”’ smiles the model.

Talking about the future plans, he says, “‘I look forward to participating in lots of beauty pageants and be a successful model. Also, I’m looking forward to contesting for titles like Mr Tamilnadu, Mr Asia, Mr Asia India, etc. Especially, earning a title is not only about the looks. It depends on how you carry yourself, your communication, presence of mind, etc.’”

He further states that not all walks are the same. ‘”A walk has to be shaped according to the need. We have to adapt the walk according to the designer.’”

As a piece of advice to the upcoming models, Yahiya says, “‘Always be humble. Carry yourself in a positive way and be good to people. This is all enough.’ ”

Mohammed Yahiya can be reached at 99406 96811.
