Chennai: Actor Rajinikanth who is all set to announce his political party soon is likely to join hands with his good friend Kamal Haasan in his journey.
Political pundits say that the actors have been giving enough indications in the recent past for it. They share an excellent rapport for over four decades though their fans believe they are poles apart.
Rajinikanth never failed to express his admiration for Kamal Haasan. At various places, he referred Kamal as his ‘guru’.
Speaking at the Kamal Ungal Nan, an event to commemorate 60 years of Kamal Haasan in cinema in Chennai last night, Rajinikanth, said, ”We will remain friends forever.”
Interestingly Kamal Haasan, speaking on the occasion, said, ”Everyone should reflect our friendship. Love is the only truth and we will remain its identity. We don’t know what future holds. Yesterday and today have given us a beautiful friendship. Our acting styles have been different and so our ideologies too will be different. We have protected our friendship for 44 years we would continue to do so in future as well”.
Their words let loose speculations of both coming together in political journey. Even a few reports said that first round of talks are on between the two.
Interestingly, veteran filmmaker and actor Vijay’s father S A Chandrasekhar, speaking at Sunday’s event, said, ”Rajini and Kamal should enter politics together. You should establish your party, come to power, weed out corruption and then when you feel like you’ve had your fill, make way for your brothers”.
A few other celebrities too spoke about politics while heaping laurels on Kamal Haasan. Remember the latter floated Makkal Needhi Maiam that contested Lok Sabha elections this year and managed nearly four per cent votes.
Rajinikanth’s remarks at the meeting led to many raise their eye-brows. He, in a satirical tone, said, ”Miracles are happening all around us. For instance, two years ago Edappadi Palaniswami would not have imagined becoming Tamilnadu’s Chief Minister. When he did, many said his rule may not last a couple of weeks. It’s been two years now, he has been in power overcoming all hurdles. Miracles have happened yesterday, they continue to happen today and will happen tomorrow as well”.
However both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have kept things close to their hearts. Coming days will decide what’s in-store for them in Tamilnadu politics.
