Nakul Abhyankar

Nakul Abhyankar has gained spotlight after singing for Disney’s Frozen 2, that went on floors recently. The Chennai-based singer has recorded ten numbers for the movie in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

In a chat with News Today, Nakul says, “Out of the blue, I got a call from Disney studio and they offered me the opportunity. I grabbed it without any second thought.”

“Disney is such a popular banner and is something that we all grew up watching. Recording songs for Frozen 2 took me on a nostalgic roller coaster ride. The experience was really incredible,” he added.

Recalling memories of recording his first song, Nakul says, “My mother tongue is Marathi. And I still remember, it took me six hours to learn only the pronounciation. But, now I have learnt Tamil very well as I am residing in the city for more than five years. Now I can sing songs in all the southern languages without any flaws in pronounciation.”

Nakul has sung a number of songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tulu and Hindi. The singer-cum-composer has worked with leading musicians like A R Rahman and Anirudh Ravichandar. His songs Kelambittale Vijayalakshmi from Kaatrin Mozhi, Neeli Kanumullo from Chekka Chivandha Vaanam, CEO In The House from Sarkar are hit numbers.

Speaking about his work experience with AR Rahman, the singer says, “I have worked with Rahman sir in a few films and it was a great experience. I have learnt so many things just by observing him. A ten-minute conversation with him can give us a lot of ideas and techniques.”

“Working with Anirudh for Petta was like a dream come true. When I got a call from Anirudh’s studio, I didn’t know it was for Petta. When I got to know that, I was dumbstruck. It took me a while to get back to reality. I feel blessed to be a part of such a great project,” says Nakul.

Talking about his upcoming projects, he says, “I have been composing a few YouTube singles. Many leading singers including Shakthisree Gopalan, Sasha Tripathi and Haricharan are on board. These numbers will be released in January 2020.”
