Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami paying floral tributes to a portrait of former CM J Jayalalithaa on her third death anniversary today.

Chennai: The ruling AIADMK in Tamilnadu today took out a silent procession and paid floral tributes at the memorial of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on the occasion of her third death anniversary.

Clad in black shirts, Chief Minister Edpapadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who are also the joint coordinator and coordinator of the AIADMK, respectively, accompanied by Ministers, MPs, MLAs and tens and hundreds of party functionaries took part in the silent procession which commenced near Anna statue and culminated at Jayalalithaa’s memorial on the Marina beach front, which was decorated with flowers, along with the Party’s ‘Two Leaves’ symbol.

Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam, who are joint coordinator and coordinator of the AIADMK, respectively, led a silent rally this morning from Anna Salai to ‘Amma’ memorial on the Marina beach, in which Ministers, party leaders and members took part.

After offering floral tributes at her memorial, the AIADMK members vowed to strive hard to work on the path laid down by the late leader, who helped in party’s growth through her sacrifice and skills.

Palaniswami and Panneerserlvam administered the pledge to the AIADMK leaders, functionaries and party cadres. Later, the AIADMK members observed two minutes’ silence to mark the occasion. Tens and hundreds of AIADMK cadres from various parts of the State, carrying portraits of Jayalalithaa, thronged the city to mark the occasion.

Later, AMMK founder TTV Dhinakaran along with his supporters also took out a silent procession and paid floral tributes at the memorial of Jayalalithaa.

Elsewhere in the State, AIADMK and AMMK cadres paid floral tributes to decorated portraits of Jayalalithaa to mark the occasion. Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospital on 22 September, 2016 and after 75 days of treatment, passed away this day in that year.
