Chennai: At a time when humans take good care of themselves and quench their thirst and hunger regularly, here is a Nanganallur resident Mani, who has thoughtfully constructed in front of his house a couple of small troughs that would help him feed stray animals.

He has built them on either side of his gate and he fills them with water and liquid food that may help stray cattle and canines.

Speaking to News Today, Mani says, “Many of us like animals. We adopt them as pets.We provide them all love and comfort that we can. But we seldom understand the plight of stray animals. They have no proper shelter or care. I used to feel bad to see hungry and thirsty animals on the streets while I feed my pet. This guilt drove into me the idea of building small food and water holders for the stray animals”.

Mani says, ”It is not possible for me to adopt all the animals on the roads. But I thought I can quench the thirst of few of them. Sharing is caring”.

Takur, a security at the house says, “Everyday I fill the first trough with water and the second one with rice, sambhar, rasam and vegetables. Dogs, goats and cows will not leave our street without making a stop at our house.”

”People should come forward to do their bit for birds and animals. Summer is fast approaching. We have to feed them with water first. Such acts will give us immense satisfaction. We should teach children in our house to care for them”, says Mani.
