HC asks cops to vacate anti-CAA protesters

Chennai:Madras High Court today asked the police to vacate anti-CAA protesters who were agitating without prior permission.

The directive was issued while hearing a petition which stated that anti-CAA protests in Tiruppur affected the traffic flow.

Sources said that the protesters, including a large number of women, continued their sit-in on a road despite being asked to disperse by the police.

It may be noted that the State has witnessed a series of protests against CAA by political parties, including the main opposition DMK and Congress, while some Muslim outfits too had hit the streets to register their opposition to the controversial law.
