Girl child molested, thrown from terrace in Maduravoyal


Chennai: A day after the four convicts in Nirbhaya gang rape case were executed by hanging at Tihar Jail in Delhi, police arrested a man who molested and murdered a minor in Maduravoyal here today.

The victim, a ten-year-old girl, was thrown from the terrace of a three-storey building by her neighbour in the wee hours of today.

Police said the girl was a class five student of a private school in Mettukuppam, Maduravoyal. The accused was identified as P Suresh (29) of MMDA Colony who did centering work at construction sites.

At 2 am, the girl had stepped out to use the bathroom outside the building and did not return for a long time. The worried parents alerted the police control room after she was found to be missing.

A police patrol vehicle arrived and began searching for the girl, and the neighbours too joined in the search. Subsequently, the girl was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood in the backside of the building.

She was rushed to a private hospital in Ayanmbakkam where she passed away. At the hospital it had come to light that the girl was molested, following which police began an inquiry into the case.

Suresh, who lived in the second floor of the same building was taken into custody on basis of suspicion. During interrogation, he admitted that he took the minor girl to the terrace when she stepped out to use the toilet and molested her.

When the girl raised an alarm, he gagged her with her own clothes. He threw her from the terrace when she lost consciousness and went back to his room, police said.
