Chennai: To ensure that the public do not violate section 144 which is being implemented in Chennai, reports claimed that paramilitary could be brought for lockdown enforcement.
Unconfirmed sources said that Paramilitary force will be in the city from 1 April to make sure public do not step out of the houses and Law and Order is maintained.
In several parts of the country, paramilitary force is already deployed for this purpose. Viral videos also showed them giving them military style punishments to 144 violators.
In one such video, two men were asked to carry bicycles on their head and walk with knees bend. However, both Tamilnadu DGP and City Commissioner office denied deployment of paramilitary forces. They said decisions on such matters are yet to be taken. However, one officer said that discussions are underway.
