Chennai: The Muslim Educational Association of Southern India (MEASI), the parent body of The New College, Chennai, has contributed a sum of Rs 50 lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to meet the challenges of tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and to support the initiative taken by the government of Tamilnadu to help the affected victims of the virus.
The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, who is the president of MEASI, spoke to Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami over phone personally, Wednesday and requested him to accept the offer from a minority educational institution, as a token of their contribution for a deserving cause.
The MEASI lauded the Tamilnadu government in controlling the spread of coronavirus to a large extent. T Rafeeq Ahmed and Elias Sait, honorary secretary and treasurer, respectively, assisted the president in raising the fund from the members.
