Chennai: A total of 104 positive cases were reported on Wednesday–the second highest on a single day so far in Tamil Nadu (121 yesterday) –as the total number of cases mounted to 2,162 (which is 64.52 per cent), even as positive cases in Chennai continued to be on a high with 94 testing positive Wednesday.
Apart from Chennai, where the number of cases continued to be on the ascending order–with 197 cases emerging in the last two days as against 225 across the State–only four other districts reported positive cases Wednesday.
Of the 104 fresh cases (63 men and 41 women), Chennai also recorded a whopping 94, followed by Chengalpattu (4), Kanchipuram (three), Villuppuram (two) and Tiruvallur (one).
Among those tested positive included six children below ten years of age–four boys and two girl children.
Of the total 2,162 cases, 1,456 were men and 706 women. This included 129 in 0-12 age group (71 men/58 women), 1,788 in 13-60 age group (1214/574) and 245 above 60 years of age (171/74).
A total number of 82 people, who have tested positive, were on Wednesday discharged, as the number of cured patients increased to 1,210.
Chennai continued to remain on the top of the chart with 768 cases, followed by Coimbatore (141), Tiruppur (112), Dindigul (80), Madurai (79), Chengalpattu (73), Erode (70), Tirunelveli (63), Namakkal (61), Thanjavur (55), Tiruvallur
(54), Trichy (51) and Villuppuram (50).
