Chennai: A bronze statue statue of architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar was desecrated in Cuddalore district on Friday, leading to tension.
Reports received at the police headquarters here said no arrests have been made so far in this connection. Some miscreants had placed a footwear and tied a poster with some derogatory comments to the statue at the Bharathi Road junction.
Police sources after the locals alerted the police, the footwear and the poster was removed form the statue. As the news spread, members of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi cleaned the statue and staged protests demanding the arrest of the culprits, resulting in tension for a while.
Police were analysing the CCTV footages of nearby shops and other buildings in and around the area and said the miscreants would be nabbed soon.
