Chennai: For a change, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar is ahead of the graph, taking the place of the area with highest number of Covid-19 patients in Chennai.
As per figures released by the Greater Chennai Corporation today, there are 259 cases in the locality with 49 new cases on a single day. On 30 April, the numbers were at 210.
Since the lockdown, Royapuram was constantly at the top. Currently, there are 216 coronavirus positive cases there.
According to data from the civic body, on 30 April, there were 199 cases in Royapuram and 17 news cases were found on 1 May.
Across the city, there were 176 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the total numbers to 1082. As of now, there are just five zones in the city with single digit numbers.
Teynampet saw 27 fresh cases on Friday. Kodambakkam also saw a surge in Coronavirus cases, with 19 new cases and there are 116 cases in total here.
The area-wise break-up shows that while none of the districts have shown a slump in the numbers, places like Manali and Shollinganallur have three cases each.
Anna Nagar has 91 new cases, Valsarvakkam has 60 cases, Thiruvanmiyur has 19 cases, Adyar has 21 cases, Ambattur has 33 cases, Madhavaram has four cases, while Alandur and Perungudi have nine cases each.
