Chennai: In its highest ever single-day jump, Tamilnadu today reported 527 new Covid-19 positive cases. Chennai alone contributed 266 to this figure.
The State also reported one death and the toll is now at 31.Ā The total number of cases is 3,550.
Thirty persons were discharged today and the total discharged is 1,409. The State’s health bulletin specified that a large number of today’s cases are linked to the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable, fruits and flowers market.
The health department today evening said that 527 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in the State in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,550.
Out of the 3550 cases, 2392 are male, 1157 female and 1 transperson. 12,863 samples were tested today and 1,62,970 samples tested till date. A total of 1,53,489 individuals have been tested so far.
Meanwhile, Union Health Ministry’s Joint Secretary Luv Agarwal revealed that the total coronavirus infections in the country stood at 42,533, with 2,053 cases having been reported in the last 24 hours.
He revealed that 11,706 persons have been cured of coronavirus till now, which has brought up India’s recovery rate to 27.52 per cent.
